(i)Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation with Turkmenistan was signed on 25th May, 2010. (ii)The institutional mechanism in DoC is as under:
Efforts are made to sensitize the Industry through one-day outreach programmes conducted in coordination with the Chambers of Industry. Such Outreach programmes had been held in 6 locations – Ahmedabad, Srinagar, New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Ludhiana so far. All these programmes were well-received by the industry and opportunities available in these countries was addressed through comprehensive presentation to the participants.
12 proposals of ASSOCHAM, FICCI, FIEO, etc for organizing/participating in various fairs/exhibitions of food, health, agro, electric machinery etc. have been approved for the year 2015-16.
“Department of Commerce, in July 2014, commissioned a Dry Run study through Federation of Freight Forwarders’ Association in India (FFFAI) to examine the advantages of facilitating trade between India and CIS countries through Iran. The International North South Transport Corridor (INSTC) provides for seamless movement to the CIS and other neighboring countries and is expected to be faster and cheaper than the traditional route. In order to discuss the findings of Dry Run Study and popularizing the new route, Department of Commerce, organized a Stakeholders Conference at Mumbai on 12th June, 2015”. The 7th Expert Groups (I & II) meeting on INSTC was held during 19th -20th August, 2015 and 6th INSTC Coordination Council meeting was held on 21st August, 2015 in New Delhi.
