PEPC & TEPC

This division deals with matters relating to two Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) viz. Project Exports Promotion Council of India (PEPC) and Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC).

Functions of the Division
  • Export oriented issues of 2 Export promotion Councils, viz. Project Exports Promotion Council of India (PEPC);​
    and Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC);
  • Analysis/ examination of MAI proposals received from the aforesaid Councils to promote India’s project export; telecom equipment & services export; and services export;
  • Examination of the outcome reports of the export promotion activities done by the Councils;
  • Participation in the Working Committees of the Councils;
  • Monitoring and review of export performance of Councils;
  • Examination of Pre-Budget Proposals/ Suggestions for Union Budget received from PEPC; and TEPC;
  • Handling miscellaneous proposals of Councils;
  • PMO References, VIP References, Court Cases, RTI Applications, Parliament Questions, FT(Coord) References, Economic Division References, Misc. References, etc.
About Project Export Promotion Council (PEPC) Project Exports Promotion Council of India (PEPC) is an export promotion council set up by the Government of India in 1984 (as Overseas Construction Council of India). PEPC in line with the Foreign Trade Policy of the Government (of India) not only undertakes the necessary export promotion initiatives but also provides necessary technical information, guidance and support to Indian Civil and Engineering (EPC) construction including process engineering contractors and consultants – in public or private sector – to set up overseas projects in any of the following modules of engineering service: –
  • Civil construction (structures/infrastructure)
  • Turnkey Projects including engineering, procurement and construction (from concept to commissioning) and essentially includes civil work/construction and all supplies specific to these turnkey projects
  • Process and Engineering Consultancy Services And
  • Project Construction Items (Excluding Steel and Cement)
  • Construction Engineering Products (Fittings & Fixtures/Materials)
  • Construction Equipment & Accessories
  • Other Project Goods

Activities 2022-23
    • PEPC along with its members at India Exim Bank’s Summit on ‘Enhancing Global Opportunities for Indian Project Exporters’ May 05, 2022, The Leela Palace, New Delhi

At the Summit there was Experience Sharing Session by Indian Project Exporters wherein our member Project exporters Kalpataru Power, Transmission Ltd., KEC International Ltd., Afcons Infrastructure Ltd., Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., and NBCC (India) Ltd. shared their experience at the on areas where Indian project exporters possess competitive advantage, what stalls their progress in some of the emerging areas and markets; and what product-market mix may be evolved to give further impetus to project exports.

    • PEPC facilitated participation of members at Outreach Programme,Unlocking Business Opportunities: India’s Trade Agreements with UAE & Australia organized by SEPC at Bengaluru on 12 May 2022
    • PEPC organized Capacity Building Programme for Project Exporters on 27 May 2022 at New Delhi.

      Mr. Shashi Chaturvedi, Management Consultant (IB) spoke on Existing Government policy and applicable Regulations Project Exports & Exchange Control Regulations Project Exports & Customs.
      There was a session on Management of Foreign Exchange Export Proceeds by Mr. Ritesh Victor, Co-Founder & Country Head- Myforexeye Fintech Pvt Ltd.
      Representatives from ECGC and Exim Bank briefed upon GOI Schemes & Products of ECGC and Exim Bank respectively for Project Exports & associated processes.

    • PEPC attended Exim Bank’s ‘Business Outreach Seminar for Infrastructure Projects under GoI-supported Exim Bank’s Lines of Credit extended to the Government of Bangladesh’ on June 22, 2022, New Delhi
      At the Seminar there was Experience Sharing Session by Indian Project Exporters wherein our member Project exporters IRCON, Rites, Larsen & Toubro Ltd, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd and Transrail shared their experiences with respect of LoC projects in Bangladesh.
    • PEPC organized Capacity Building Programme for Project Exporters on 26 August 2022 at Hyderabad

      Mr. Shashi Chaturvedi, Management Consultant (IB) spoke on Existing Government policy and applicable Regulations Project Exports & Exchange Control Regulations Project Exports & Customs.

      There was a session on Management of Foreign Exchange Export Proceeds by Mr. Ritesh Victor, Co-Founder & Country Head- Myforexeye Fintech Pvt Ltd.

    • PEPC organized Capacity Building Programme for Project Exporters on 09th December 2022 at Kolkata.

      Mr. Shashi Chaturvedi, Management Consultant (IB) spoke on Existing Government policy and applicable Regulations Project Exports & Exchange Control Regulations Project Exports & Customs and Rupee payment mechanism.

      Representatives from ECGC and Exim Bank briefed upon GOI Schemes & Products of ECGC and Exim Bank respectively for Project Exports & associated processes.

      Mr. Praveen Kumar, Secretary PEPC gave an overview of Indian Project Exports.

    • PEPC organized a Webinar on International Trade Settlement in Indian Rupees (INR) on 24th January 2023.

      Mr. Shashi Chaturvedi, Management Consultant (IB) spoke on Key Knowledge Areas – Concepts – Vostro Account – Nostro Account – Free Foreign Exchange – Net Foreign Exchange – Freely Convertible Currencies – Current Account – Capital Account – Swift -Currencies – G-10, R.B.I.       The objective of the programme was to acquaint the participants with the latest measures of RBI and its impact on the business prospects of Indian Exporters.

      It was a 3 hours interactive Webinar with 64 nos of participants.

      Representatives from various companies actively participated in the webinar and it was also focused to solve their queries related to Rupee Trade Settlement.

    • PEPC attended the Indian Bodies Meeting on Quality Infrastructure (QI) on 16th January 2023 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

      The meeting was aimed to discuss the challenges and key issues of the Indian Industries related to Quality Infrastructure and the way forward to overcome the existing gaps.

      The meeting also aimed to discuss the issues related to policy & institutional framework, experience of the industry at the sectorial level and their needs and expectations from government related to QI

    • PEPC along with its member companies participated in “Stakeholders meeting on Quantum of Opportunities at Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)” hosted by Shri. GV Srinivas (Additional Secretary).

Context:Indian companies conveyed that they do not qualify to participate in the EPC tenders funded by IADB, CAF and CDB as India is not member of these development banks in Latin America and The Caribbean.

Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC)

The council undertakes several activities aimed at Telecom Equipment export promotion such as Commissioning of Studies to find potential markets, holding of National/International Seminars and facilitating participation of exporters in various overseas exhibitions. The council also disseminates trade related data to its members. The council makes various recommendations​ to the Government for making necessary changes in various policies and procedures for promotion of Telecom Equipment Export.

Events organized by TEPC during 2019-20

India Africa ICT Expo:The 5th edition of India-Africa ICT Expo took place in Kigali, Rwanda on August 05-06, 2019. This event was collaborative effort of Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) of India, Department of​ Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, Government of India and the Government of Rwanda. The event was held under the theme “Accelerating Africa’s Digital Transformation Agenda”.
India Telecom: TEPC organized India Telecom 2019- Exclusive Buyer Seller Meet from 14-16 October 2019 at Aerocity, New Delhi under MAI scheme of Department of Commerce. The event was organized alongside India Mobile Congress (IMC) such that the invited foreign buyers can meet and network with more Indian manufacturers under

GES: TEPC participated in 5th edition of Global Exhibition on Services 26th to 28th November 2019 at Palace Grounds, Bengaluru, Karnataka to promote the start-ups and SME’s. The event was organized by Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce​ and Industry, Government of India, in partnership with Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (Cll).

Basis Soft: TEPC participated in the Delegation & Expo in Dhaka, Bangladesh held from 6-8th /9th February 2020 alongside BASIS Soft Expo 2020 at International Convention City, Bashundhara in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The participation was supported by​ Department of Telecommunications, Government of India and helped Indian companies to interact with ICT companies and operators from Bangladesh.

Events organized by TEPC during 2020-21:

India Africa:To reiterate the relationship and commitment between India, Rwanda and other African countries, TEPC, with support of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, hosted the ‘India Africa ICT Expo &​ Conference’ during December 1-2, 2020. The Ministry of ICT and Innovation, Government of Rwanda is co-host for the event; Hon’ble ICT Minister, Rwanda has consented for the same.
India Telecom: TEPC Make in India Pavilion was organized in India Mobile Congress, from 8-10 December 2020. The event was organized to provide the Indian companies platform to meet and network with more foreign companies from different countries​ under one roof. of the Indian manufacturers.

Events participated by TEPC during 2020-21:

Connectech Asia: ConnecTechAsia 2020, incorporates BroadcastAsia, CommunicAsia, SatelliteAsia and co-located with TechXLR8 Asia, was a three-day virtual event which is thereafter turn into a 24/7, 365 days’ interactive marketplace. There were more than 220​ highly targeted content sessions available during the event and thereafter on demand which will help the companies to know more about new technologies, over 200 exhibitors and a dedicated calendarization and promotion of their virtual booth activities which will help the participating companies to meet new buyers.

Africacom: TEPC participated AfricaCom 2020, scheduled on 10th-12th November 2020 along with ICT companies from India under the champion sector scheme of Department of Telecommunications. Participation in the event helped the Indian companies to interact with potential buyers from across the globe and negotiate business​ deals and conduct B2B meetings.
India Mobile Congress: TEPC (Telecom Equipment Export Promotion Council) has organized India Telecom 2021’ – an Exclusive International Business Expo being held virtually on March 3 & 4, 2021 under Market Access Initiative Scheme (MAI) of Department of Commerce, Government of India and with support of Department of​ Telecommunications & Ministry of External Affairs.
